football in the bluegrass

In this morning's C-J, Eric Crawford notes that Kentucky has two teams in the AP football poll for the first time ever. As such, they join CA, FL, TX and SC as the only states with multiple teams in the poll. (Not larger states &/or perennial football powerhouse states like MI, PA, or OK.)

For those who missed it, it was a great game-- back-and-forth, a lot of scoring and tremendous drama. The play I'd like to see again (that no one talked about): with the Cards down 33-28, 3rd-and-goal at the 2-yard line, Anthony Allen ran and appeared to get in the end zone. But there was no replay and the commentators didn't talk about it much. But the people I talked with agreed that it deserved at least a replay from the network.

Louisville's defense played much better; hopefully, this is a sign of good things to come. Kentucky played a very good game-- and got off the mat to deliver the signature blow with :28 left. Hopefully, they can navigate a tough SEC schedule and finish with an amazing year.
