reform forums on local govt coming to a location near you...

From Lesley Stedman-Weidenbener in Sunday's C-J, an update on Gov. Daniels' commission on local government (which he has connected to the property tax debate)...

The commission has scheduled four public forums:
-October 8 at Indiana University Northwest in Gary
-October 9 at the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne
-October 15 at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany
-October 17 at Franklin College in Franklin

But this won't be just another public hearing with people getting up to share their stories. Instead, the Indiana Local Government Reform Commission plans to have those who attend participate in moderated, small-group discussions about government services and responsibilities, key issues they see affecting local government effectiveness, and reforms they believe would improve the delivery of necessary government services.
