Star Wars and idolatry

About a month ago, I had three blog entries on the Star Wars series: on adoption and superheroes, on statism vs. freedom, and on free will and pre-destination.

Now, one more from my file/pile-- this time, on Anakin's idolatry toward Padme and then Power.

Anakin loves Padme-- but to the point of idolatry. The misplaced priorities supplant True Love and lead to a variety of problems.

Eventually, Anakin pursues power as means to the end of trying to avoid Padme's death.

Appropriately, both idols fail-- and ironically and appropriately, his worship of the idols leads to their destruction.
