speaking of different and same...

One of my colleagues has the following two proverbs posted on his office door:

What is popular is not always right
What is right is not always popular.

AND

Different people
Different lives
Different histories
Not better nor worse
Just different!

Aside from the "different" use of not/nor, I like the pairing. They illustrate the two ends of a vital spectrum-- standing on principle vs. allowing diversity with tolerance.


And while I'm thinking about it, I'd recommend a nice little (out-of-print) Sesame Street book on the latter: We're all different; we're all the same
