are you kidding me?

Syracuse and Connecticut are finishing an unbelievable battle in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament this evening.....errrrr, this morning: a SIX-overtime slugfest.

At the end of each "final" period of regulation up through the 5th overtime, they were tied: at 71, 81, 87, 98, 104, and 110. In the 6th OT, Syracuse scored the first eight points to finally put things out of reach. Wow!

All of the players must be saying: "if I had only..., then this game would be over"!

Whoever would win, it's good news for West Virginia who awaits the winner....errrrrr, survivor.

Into the 5th overtime, Syracuse had lost 4 players to foul trouble-- and Connecticut has lost 3. (UConn lost two more in the 6th OT.) Into the 6th OT, each team took its 100th shot of the game.

Each team typically relies on 7 players-- and as the saying goes, they'll be sleeping well tonight-- at least after they wind down at, say, 4:00 AM.

UPDATE: Highlights here from ESPN. The last play of regulation by Syracuse was excruciatingly close to a game-winning shot, but it was just (and I mean just) after the buzzer. And it turns out that Syracuse never led in overtime until that 6th OT!

Two other stats: Four young men were in double-digits in rebounds for UConn. While UConn's big men missed 14 of their free throw attempts, Syracuse guard Johny Flynn made all 16 of his FT's.
