21c gets incredible acclaim, looks to expand in Cincy

I haven't been there yet, but it sounds awesome!

Here are two items from the
C-J...

The first, editorial praise of independent acclaim for the eclectic Louisville hotel/musuem.

Great ambience. Great food. Great customer service. Great contemporary art in the public areas, and beautifully decorated sleeping rooms where guests snuggle beneath 500-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets. And you wonder why this locally owned 90-room treasure on Louisville's West Main Street has been chosen the best hotel in the U.S. and sixth-best in the world in Condé Nast Traveler's 2009 Readers Choice Awards?

The second, a news article from Chris Otts, on 21c's planned expansion into Cincinnati.

From Otts, we learn that the award is announced in the November issue of the magazine and is based on "questionnaires of more than 25,000 readers rating the quality of rooms, service, food/dining, location and design".

21c Museum Hotel plans to open a location in downtown Cincinnati at the former Metropole Hotel...working with the Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation on the restoration, which is scheduled to begin next fall and cost $45 million...

The Cincinnati hotel is to have 160 rooms, a contemporary art museum with more than 8,000 square feet of exhibition space open to the public free of charge, a Proof restaurant and bar, and meeting spaces.

One of Melissa and Sam's wedding presents was a gift certificate for dinner there. They said it was awesome.
