Edge Outreach in Haiti

From Chris Kenning in this AM's C-J...

The article mentions Bowin Tichenor, an acquaintance of mine (he was in our DC program-- and did the graphic design on the DC books!), who moved his family to the Dominican Republic a few months ago-- and now is working in Haiti.

Four hours after a 5.9-magnitude aftershock rocked quake-ravaged Haiti, the first team from Louisville's Edge Outreach touched down Wednesday in the beleaguered capital city to begin providing untainted water to desperate survivors.

The eight-member group flew in on a United Airlines plane carrying nurses, relief workers, orphanage leaders and medical and water purification supplies...

The nonprofit group intends to set up as many as nine small, two-tank purifiers, which use filters, table salt and a 12-volt battery or solar panels to create chlorine gas and purify up to 10,000 gallons of water a day. It treats existing water sources, such as contaminated wells, cisterns and rivers...

The Louisville Edge Outreach team is planning to stay until late January....
