Democratic Party "standards" (revisited)

This story reminds me of an earlier blog entry on Democrats vs. Republicans and ethical lapses. For all of their faults, many Republican politicians live by "family values" and some of them are then skewered on the same sword. The question about and to Democrats is: which values do they have? Really...

Here's a potential example: if the charges against Filner stand-- or are otherwise true-- then he should resign immediately. Although whipping up on the little people and messing with the common man are perfectly consistent with (oh so) many policies supported by Democrats, it is not consistent with their rhetoric.

Rep. Bob Filner said Wednesday he regrets a recent incident at Dulles Airport in which he allegedly pushed a United Airlines baggage employee, resulting in assault and battery charges.

Filner, D-Calif., offered few details of the Aug. 19 incident in a three-sentence statement issued after he returned from a week in Iraq.

The only way he would be pressured to resign is if the baggage employee was gay/black/female and the push in question was accompanied by a homophobic/racial/abusive slur…

Thank God for white, Christian males that have family values! Otherwise, who would be left to pick on?

Which reminds me – have you seen the drunk driving commercial with the 3 guys literally swimming in beer/cocktail/wine while driving in their cars? All 3 are white males. Apparently that is the (only) target demographic for that type of irresponsible behavior.
