one more reason for GOP'ers not to worry about so much about-- or Dems to have so much hope in-- Obama

Have you ever done something non-stop for 21 months and then tried to change gears?

What if the thing you've been doing for 21 months is something at which you are gifted and can continue to do after the 21 months are over?

What if the thing you've been chosen to do is something at which you have little experience and questionable ability?

None of this should be construed as an argument in favor of McCain. But if Obama is elected, there is good reason to believe the world will not end-- or change all that much compared to a McCain presidency.

Those are wise thoughts about the election, Eric. They prompt me to share two prayers that seem appropriate for this historical election.

The first prayer I just saw on a friend's Facebook page: A prayer for voting. This prayer is by Rabbi David Seidenberg.

This prompted me to see if the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer has a prayer for elections. Indeed, it does:

For an Election:

Almighty God, to whom we must account for all our powers and privileges: Guide the people of the United States (or of this community) in the election of officials and representatives; that, by faithful administration and wise laws, the rights of all may be protected and our nation be enabled to fulfill your purposes; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
