a former student's scrapbooking business

Cory Williams gets a write-up in Sunday's C-J-- in an article by Christopher Hall...

The country's economic woes could turn out to be a blessing in disguise for some local businesses. At least that's the hope of Cory Williams, 22, the owner of Scrapbook Daze Inc. in Corydon.

"With the economic status being what it is, more of our locals have been coming downtown, when before it wasn't anything to just run to New Albany or Clarksville or wherever," said Williams, who held a grand reopening yesterday at the store's new location in the historic Emporium Mall....

Williams, who moved the store from a nearby location on the town square, said she hasn't seen a dip in her business in the last year and hopes the relocation produces more foot traffic....

Customers in the late morning and early afternoon gushed over the store's new look in its smaller quarters. At 750 square feet, the new store is less than half the size of the old one.

An avid scrapbooker herself, Williams said she's a third-generation entrepreneur who wanted to be one before she even knew what the word meant....

She said her childhood ambition was to open a bulk candy store, but instead she ended up taking out a loan to buy the scrapbooking store from a friend's sister while still a student at Indiana University Southeast.

Williams graduated recently, and she said she was able to go right to work doing something she loves while many of her classmates scrambled for jobs....

Congrats and good luck to you, Cory!
