more on selective accusations of "dividing" and "wedging"

From the editorialists at the C-J, more rhetoric or blindness about the inherent divisiveness and wedge-driving of most stands on abortion.

Can't we just call it what it is: whoever controls the White House controls this 50:50 issue.

President Obama acted wisely and humanely in reversing a controversial ban on American financial help to international health and aid organizations that provide abortion services in other countries.

The gag order, first instituted by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, was overturned by Bill Clinton on his first full day in office and then quickly reinstituted by George W. Bush.

Mr. Obama's order drew predictable condemnation from congressional Republicans, who condemned the move as divisive (and what were Mr. Reagan's and Mr. Bush's orders?), and spokesmen for anti-abortion groups.

They should save their breath. The gag orders were not about women's health or even about abortions; they were panders to the anti-abortion lobby and to religious conservatives....

One can call Bush "divisive" I suppose. But they don't as eager to note the same for Clinton and Obama. When Bush does it, it's pandering; when Dems do it, it's glorious.

C'mon C-J...Take your stands, but at least communicate them in an honest manner!
