Southeast's So. IN campus opens!

We had our first official services at the new, satellite location yesterday-- after two "dress rehearsals" for members on the preceding two Sundays.

It was great to have Kyle there live-- another excellent message (more later)-- and some powerful music. I don't think it will be available on-line but the artist who painted a portrait of Jesus-- in three minutes (during a song) AND upside-down-- was amazing!

Here's Christopher Hall with a report in the C-J...

One of the largest churches in the country further extended its reach in the region yesterday when Southeast Christian Church opened its new Southern Indiana campus.

The grand opening service for the new multimillion-dollar facility was held on Easter, drawing more than 3,000 for the two morning services at 9 and 11...Attendance was nearly capacity yesterday...

"For us, it's great timing to be able to open on Easter," [Indiana campus pastor Rusty Russell] said. "It's the most important Christian holiday of the year, so it's fitting for us to be able to celebrate Easter by opening up the new campus."

Southeast's teaching minister, Kyle Idleman, delivered the sermon at yesterday's services, but Sunday sermons in the future normally will be video replays of the Saturday night service from the main campus in Louisville, Idleman said....

When [Dave] Stone took over as Southeast's senior minister from Bob Russell, one of his main goals was for Southeast to establish campuses around the Louisville metropolitan area, Rusty Russell said last week.

The Southern Indiana campus was the first of those, and for its next, the church will lease and renovate a building in Oldham County, Ky., Idleman said yesterday.

Rusty Russell said Southeast was "just hoping to lift up the name of Jesus and partner with other churches in this area to bring the gospel to Southern Indiana."...
