this year's SS COLA: another blow to Democratic plans for health care "reform"

From the AP's Stephen Ohlemacher with this morning's front page article in the C-J on the cost-of-living adjustment for senior citizens and Social Security.

In a word, it's 0. (And it's forecasted to be 0 again next year.) This would be the first time since automatic COLAs were added in 1975.

This is appropriate given the government's measure of inflation (apparently, negative for the relevant 12 months).

BUT how will it be perceived by Grandma?

She ain't gonna like it and in many cases, she won't understand it.

AND she's likely to connect it to recent discussions that her health care is likely to be rationed more stringently under ObamaCare.

More bad news for those who want the federal government to take a far larger role in health care/insurance.
