"more of You; less of me; fill me with Your Spirit"

Kudos to Kyle for a fine sermon this weekend on an under-served topic.

My pastor in Texas used to pound this and other related topics—the New Covenant, circumcision of the heart, heart of stone/flesh, Jesus in vs. near us (with an analogy to Jimmy Connors instructing us in tennis vs. playing from within; catch Kyle's discussion of Elijah, David, and Moses in minutes 30-32), God's provision and our participation in all things, II Corinthians 3:18, Romans 8:9, and so on.

Do you know John 16:7? What an amazing verse—and few people know about it!

In his summary of the message, I'm thankful that he didn't leave it at “more of You; less of me”. He added “fill me with your Spirit”. A Christian will not succeed in living the Christian life as well—if at all—without that last phrase.

If you're not familiar with this vital concept, check out great books like The Saving Life of Christ by Ian Thomas or The Normal Christian Life by Watchman Nee.
