a nice poke at Democrats by Boortz

"Then there's Hillary Clinton. Many of you may have missed this, but Ms. Rodham was talking to a retirement group last week when she promised to save Social Security. No surprise there. That's why the Social Security system exists in the first place...so that Democrats can promise to save it every time an election rolls around."

(hat tip: Chuck Muth)

It's interesting that Democrats are so interested in preserving a system that pays an average rate-of-return of 1%-- annoying for those of us who have substantive and diverse nest eggs, but a travesty for those whose only nest egg is SS. On top of that, African-Americans have, on average, a negative rate-of-return from SS (given their shorter lifespans). How does any of that rise to any legitimate standard of justice?

Moreover, it's financed with a 15.3% payroll tax that is regressive and far more burdensome than the more famous "income" tax. (More than 80% of wage-earners lose more to payroll taxes than income taxes.)

The Democrats want to say that they're friends of the working poor and middle class...If only it were so!
