Flock of Dodos

I hadn't heard about this movie until seeing a review of it in by Paul Nelson in Christian Research Journal (not available on-line yet). From the movie trailer on the website, it seems that Randy Olson's film tries to take a balanced view on whether "Darwinists" or ID'ers are "dodos".

Nelson is critical of the film but gives it a reserved endorsement: "Would I recommend FOD? Yes, but only if viewers are informed about the film's factual errors." Nelson expresses hope that Olson will edit the film since it-- and the debate-- will be around for a long time.

Nelson says that the movie is "fun to watch", but "its accuracy, however, is hit and miss". (For example, he cites the treatment of Jonathan Wells' critique of textbooks for including Haeckel's flawed and leading drawings.) The interviews are "non-confrontational" and "speaks to a filmmaker with genuine curiosity about his subjects". Nelson also says that Olson is "unsparing regarding his natural allies, evolutionary biologists". (That was Olson's former career!)

I'm not sure how many people are interested in this sort of thing-- at least those who would be able to enjoy a movie that takes pokes at both sides. But if that's your cup of tea, then watch a copy of this intelligently-designed film.
