the glorious part of Obama's win last night

I've written a few times-- and from a few angles-- about why I wasn't all that concerned with Obama (when compared with McCain).

To summarize the key points:
-McCain was a mess too-- and we've already had eight years or so of non-conservative GOP leadership.
-A McCain victory made GOP improvement far less likely.
-Obama is probably more talker than do-er.
-We know the Dem Congress has been more talk than do.
-If Obama combines with an overwhelmingly Dem Congress to try crazy stuff, they'll probably end up taking a beating in 2010.
-Idolatry toward government should continue to fade among GOP'ers-- and idolatry toward govt by Dems should take a beating over the next few years.

My one concern is that the public will go along with Obama and an activist Congress-- and cause FDR-like damage to the economy, both short-term and long-term.

All that said, it should also be proclaimed that the election of an African-American to the Presidency is a remarkable and praiseworthy thing. Isn't it incredible how far we've come as a country, in terms of race, in the last 40-50 years?!
